Background and Mission

YTS - Bukit Batu Project - Sei Gohong Trans - Km 38

Through funding from SD Britain, SD Canada and SD USA, YTS has been helping farmers in the Bukit Batu Subdistrict since 2010. Currently, we are supporting the development of agribusiness market gardens with farmers belonging to six joint business groups (KUB). They are supported by an umbrella organization called Forum Usaha Borneo Nusantara (FUBN), which provides access to capital, technical training, and sales of their products into the retail market. YTS works to improve the management of this Forum and increase the resilience of the agriculture systems in the face of climate change.

The Experience

We will take you to see the horticultural gardens of the KUB at Km. 38 and meet the farmers. Then we can see the aquaculture systems that the fish farmers use. Finally, we will stop to have some refreshments and a discussion with the FUBN management.

Duration Time

The duration of the whole trip will be approximately two (2) hours. It is in a rural area settled by transmigrants mostly from Java. They moved to Central Kalimantan as part of the government’s transmigration program to relocate people from densely populated cities to other regions in Indonesia. The place is 5 km away from Rungan Sari. We will visit three spots in the area, so this coordinate represents the general location: 1°57’13.8″S 113°43’43.0″E.
