At A Glance: Bina Cita Utama (BCU) is located outside the capital of Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. It opened in July 2005 to an inaugural class of 28 students, ranging in age from 6 to 16. BCU was the first bilingual, multicultural school in the province.
Goals: Provide a high quality-learning environment that nurtures and educates the ‘whole child’ so that, as adults, students are able to make real and positive contributions to the development of their communities and country.
Results: More than 136 students currently attend BCU. Fluency in English is important for many career paths in Indonesia, so the school’s English curriculum provides these students with a broad range of post-graduation opportunities.
