At A Glance: Ransel Buku is a grassroots education and literacy project that was launched in 2008 in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. In the early days, the project aimed to provide good quality books and reading guidance for underprivileged children in riverside communities. As the project developed, new programs in education and literacy have been created to address challenges in the environment, health, Dayak culture preservation, and community development.
Goals: A dignified Kalimantan through the literacy movement.
Results: Ransel Buku is now running its programs with two child-friendly libraries in Petuk Katimpun and Marang and a floating mobile library benefitting around 500 children yearly.
