At A Glance: Mayamiko Child Care Centre in Blantyre, Malawi, provides lifesaving care, shelter, and education to vulnerable children. Working with the Ministry of Social Welfare, we take in children facing abuse, abandonment, and extreme poverty. Since opening in April 2023, Mayamiko has become a critical emergency care provider, supporting over fifty children through residential care and reintegration programs. More than a shelter, we are a stepping stone to a safer, brighter future. Our mission is simple: to protect, nurture, and empower children who have nowhere else to turn.

Goals: Our vision is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, can thrive and grow into confident, self-reliant individuals who contribute positively to society. We aim to be a beacon of hope for the children we serve, offering them the tools and opportunities they need to build brighter futures. To achieve this, we provide:

1. Education: We offer quality educational programs that cater to the unique needs of each child, helping them develop academically and intellectually.

2. Healthcare: Ensuring the well-being of our children is paramount. We provide access to healthcare services and promote healthy living habits.

3. Vocational Training: We equip older children with valuable life skills and vocational training, preparing them for a self-sufficient future.

4. Personalized Support: Our team of dedicated and experienced professionals delivers personalized care and guidance to each child, addressing their emotional and psychological needs.

Results: Mayamiko Child Care centre has supported 65 emergency cases to date which includes children who have been physically or sexually abused, abandoned, and experienced the loss of their guardians. We continue to be a safe support system and offer a beacon of hope to children experiencing dire situations in the Southern Region of Malawi.
