At A Glance: Hapakat Usaha Bersama Cooperative (KHUB) in Palangka Raya, Indonesia, embodies the constitutional spirit of cooperative economics through mutual cooperation and solidarity. Legally established in August 2022, KHUB operates as a consumer cooperative dedicated to promoting member welfare and building economic resilience within the community. With 109 members, including international participants, KHUB demonstrates inclusive economic empowerment that transcends cultural boundaries. More than just a financial institution, we are a catalyst for community development, offering diverse business opportunities that strengthen both individual livelihoods and collective prosperity.
Goals: Our vision is to create a sustainable cooperative model that fosters economic independence and community solidarity through collaborative business ventures. We aim to be a beacon of cooperative excellence, following the Indonesian constitutional mandate of kinship-based economics while preparing for growth inspired by successful models like Keling Kumang Cooperative. To achieve this, we provide:
-

Results: KHUB has grown from 15 founding members to 109 members within three years, with total capital reaching IDR 176,400,572 by December 2023. We have successfully disbursed IDR 503,500,000 in loans across 82 transactions through 2024, directly supporting member businesses and community development. Our multi-sector approach has established three operational business units, with plans for expansion following our upcoming benchmarking visit to the renowned “Mini Mondragon” Keling Kumang Cooperative in West Kalimantan. As we celebrate our third anniversary in July 2025, KHUB continues to demonstrate that cooperative economics can effectively serve diverse communities while maintaining the principles of mutual aid and shared prosperity.
